Founded as National Depressive and Manic-Depressive Association, National DMDA is the nation’s largest patient-run, illness-specific organization. Yet it was not a “top of mind” organization, which prevented it from reaching more of the 25 million Americans who suffer from depression and bipolar disorder. Lipman Hearne was asked to help rename and rebrand National DMDA to raise its public profile and distinguish it from other organizations in the field of mental illness support and advocacy.
