DePaul is inextricably linked to Chicago. The University has educated many of the city's business, government, and nonprofit leaders; provided academic and outreach programs that address urban problems; and led efforts to redevelop the South Loop business district and expand access to higher education for the city's disadvantaged residents. Despite these contributions, DePaul's role in Chicago had never been fully recognized. As DePaul prepared to embark on a major capital campaign, it needed to raise public awareness of the University's powerful impact on Chicago.
