President Clinton and Congress established the Web-based Education Commission to prepare a comprehensive analysis of education and the Internet. Following meetings with hundreds of education, business, policy, and technology experts, the Commission determined that the Internet offers vast opportunities for learning, but that much work is needed to realize the medium’s full potential. The Commission's report called for “e-learning” to be made a centerpiece of our national education agenda. Lipman Hearne was engaged to lead an intensive effort to draw national attention to the report.
