Lipman Hearne developed and executed a national media outreach initiative for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund that led off with an exclusive report and live interview on NBC’s Today Show. On May 17, Hispanic Scholarship Fund president and CEO Frank Alvarez, and lottery winners Jacki and Gilbert Cisneros announced “Generation 1st Degree Pico Rivera,” a scholarship and community engagement campaign. The campaign begins with a $1.25 million gift from the Cisnernos' that will provide 50 scholarships to students from El Rancho High School in Pico Rivera, California for five years. The Cisneros are also pledging to form an endowment that will provide additional scholarships into the future.
The announcement ties in with HSF's “Generation 1st Degree” that focuses on closing the gap in college degree attainment between Hispanic students and their peers.
