Mark Nelson is an accomplished marketing leader with more than 20 years’ experience in brand, digital, and direct marketing. He joined Lipman Hearne in 2010 to oversee strategy development, marketing planning, and execution for our enrollment management clients. Mark also oversees our advertising strategy and planning services as well as our web strategy and new media services.

Mark’s cross-channel experience spans both the client and agency worlds. Prior to joining Lipman Hearne, he served as National Director of Marketing at DeVry University. As part of the senior leadership team, Mark was charged with revitalizing the University’s admissions, enrollment management, and brand marketing efforts. He directed media planning, lead generation, promotional partnerships, and grassroots initiatives for the University’s 94 locations – including DeVry’s first Latino and social media campaign, and a record-breaking national open house program.

Additionally, Mark developed a comprehensive online marketing campaign for software for public schools administration, spent seven years in technology product management, and served as executive director of a pediatric cancer foundation. Mark began his career at Leo Burnett, working on a number of blue-chip brands, including McDonald’s, Hallmark, Nintendo, and Oldsmobile.

Mark is active in the city’s nonprofit community. He serves on the board of Chicago Lights, an outreach organization addressing literacy and homelessness in Chicago.

Mark holds a B.S. in Communication from Boston University and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
